Information Technology Assistant 2

The Information Technology Assistant II plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service by assisting and training staff and patrons with their technology needs. This position ensures a positive experience by providing patient, clear guidance on library devices and services, along with limited support for patron-owned equipment.


Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to patrons and staff by troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Creates and delivers technology programming to patrons on a variety of technical concepts
  • Staffs the Computer Help Desk and regularly assists patrons in the use of IT equipment 
  • Monitors the Tech Center when it is in use and provides guidance to patrons
  • Installs and tests necessary software and hardware
  • Acts as Person-in-Charge at designated times 

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff in a friendly and professional manner
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems including hardware, software, and AV equipment
  • Proven track record of following tasks and projects through to completion 
  • Physical ability and manual dexterity to install, maintain and operate computer equipment, peripherals and software, enter data on keyboard accurately, move throughout the building, read computer screens, bend, stoop, reach, transport and lift up to 60 pounds

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Two years computer science coursework completed or equivalent work experience
  • Additional technical certifications, degrees, or adult programming experience are a plus 
  • Must be able to regularly work evenings and weekends

 Position is 37.5 hours/week. Starting salary is $26.50/hr. Applicants for all positions are subject to a background check.
