Director of Nursing Services

CTF ILLINOIS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and manage our medical services team. The DON is responsible for the integrity and delivery of nursing care across our Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs) and Intermittent Programs. This position supervises Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Health Care Coordinators, with indirect oversight of employees assisting with medication administration.  If you're a Registered Nurse who values leadership, compliance, and high-quality care, we want to hear from you!


Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and provide ongoing training to all nursing staff
  • Oversee nursing assignments and ensure consistent, quality care for all clients
  • Ensure compliance with DHS, Rule 116, and best nursing practices
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training materials related to nursing and medication administration
  • Provide direct nursing coverage and oversight as needed
  • Complete nursing assessments, care plans, and documentation in line with state regulations and agency policy
  • Monitor client health status, medication effects, and follow up on medical issues
  • Conduct regular audits and quality assurance reviews on nursing practices and documentation
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, safety committees, and risk/behavior management initiatives
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records, medication histories, immunization status, and lab results

Key Duties Include

  • Training DSPs and QIDPs on medication administration
  • Attending and contributing to client staffings and service plans
  • Conducting medication reviews, injury reports, and monthly summaries
  • Managing physician orders, MARs, and pharmacy coordination
  • Providing oversight for nursing supplies and equipment
  • Reviewing and responding to incident reports with appropriate recommendations

Requirements

  • Current valid Illinois RN license
  • Minimum of two years of related nursing experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per company policy
  • Ability to respond to on-call nursing needs and emergencies
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two years of experience with the developmentally disabled (DD) population
  • DHS-approved RN trainer (5 years’ experience preferred)
