Associate Director of Community Day Services

Looking for a position where you can actually make a difference? We’re hiring an administrator to oversee a small, community-based program for people with disabilities in Palos Park, IL. Our program focuses on helping young adults fully integrate into their communities through activities like horseback riding, music lessons, fitness classes, and bowling while also developing skills necessary to lead more independent lives with curriculum that highlights creative and practical learning such as art, advocacy, reading, financial literacy, and more.

Overview:

  • Monday through Friday, 8am – 4pm (no on call & no weekends)
  • Lead a program of 30-40 young adults in creating meaningful experiences in their day
  • Plan daily social, recreational and learning activities and experiences in the local community
  • Develop curriculum and invite guest speakers based on interests of the attendees
  • Advocate for each person’s desires and needs, ensuring their voice is heard
  • Supervise 3-4 staff/Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), including hiring, training, and mentoring
  • Oversee plans and implementation strategies to help each person meet their individual outcomes
  • Works with our transportation department on obtain Pace tickets and different types of vehicle inspections/repairs.
  • Learns and knows our HSMS system for individuals and attendance purposes.
  • Runs monthly drills such as Fire, Tornado, and water temps.
  • Should have good communication skills to be professional when speaking with parents/caregivers/stakeholders
  • Be able to complete in a timely manner monthly calendars, activity committee notes & all monthly reports.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university in a human services related field
  • 1 year experience working with people who have a developmental disability
  • Basic user knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), and/or other PC applications.
  • Possess valid driver’s license
